धुळे जिल्ह्यात शिरपूर तालुक्यातील सांगवी पोलिस ठाण्यांतर्गत असलेल्या झेंडेअंजन जवळच्या पुट्यापाडा येथील रहिवासी सिग्रेट देवसिंह पावरा (५६) यांनी पोलिस ठाणे गाठले. आपला मुलगा रामदास पावरा याची काल सायंकाळी हत्या करण्यात आली आहे. गहाण ठेवलेली वनजमीन सोडवण्याच्या वादातून मारहाण करुन त्याचा खून केल्याचे त्यांनी पोलिसांना सांगितले.
बापाने संशयितांची नावेही सांगितली. त्यावरुन पोलिसांनी गावातून मिथून पावरा, भाया पावरा व युवराज पावरा यांना ताब्यात घेतले. त्यांची कसून चौकशी सुरु केली. मात्र, त्यांच्या माहितीतून खुनात त्यांचा सहभाग निष्पन्न होत नव्हता. त्यामुळे सहायक निरीक्षक जयेश खलाणे यांनी तपासाची दिशा बदलण्याचा निर्णय घेतला.

मृत रामदास पावरा याच्या कुटुंबाबाबत माहिती घेताना त्यांना एक धक्कादायक बाब समजली. रामदासचा मृत्यू झाल्याच्या दिवसापासून त्याची पत्नी सुनंदा तथा बेबीबाई पावरा बेपत्ता झाली होती. तिचा शोध घेण्यासाठी अधिकारी व कर्मचाऱ्यांचे विशेष पथक रवाना करण्यात आले.
अखेर खैरखुटी येथे तिचा शोध लागला. तिला सांगवी पोलिस ठाण्यात नेण्यात आले. चौकशीत सुरूवातीला तिने उडवाउडवीची उत्तरे दिली. मात्र पोलिसांनी कसून चौकशी करताच तिने माहिती दिली. ती ऐकून पोलिसांनाही धक्काच बसला.
