ओमरच्या संपर्कात आल्यानंतर त्याने आपल्याला (रईसला) नागपुरातील महालमधील राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघाचे मुख्यालय व रेशीमबागेतील स्मृती मंदिराची रेकी करण्याची जबाबदारी सोपवली. त्यानुसार, १३ जुलैला रईस हा विमानाने काश्मीरहून मुंबईला आला. तेथून विमानाने नागपुरात आला. त्याने नागपुरातील हस्तकाशी संपर्क साधला. परंतु, त्याचा संपर्क झाला नाही. त्यानंतर तो ऑटोरिक्षाने सीताबर्डी येथे आला. येथील एका हॉटेलमध्ये थांबला. १४ जुलैला तो आधी महालमधील संघाच्या मुख्यालयाची रेकी करायला गेला. परंतु, त्याला रेकी करता आली नाही.
