रतन टाटा नेहमीच गरजूंना मदतीसाठी, त्यांना केलेल्या दानधर्मामुळे ओळखले जातात. अशीच मदत एका होतकरू गरजू मुलाला करण्यासाठी त्यांनी त्याला काही रकमेचा चेक दिला. या रकमेतून तु घर घे असं रतन टाटा त्याला म्हणाले. पण या मुलाने ही मदत नाकारली आणि त्यांच्याकडे एक मागणी केली. या मुलाची मागणी टाटांनी लगेच मान्यही केली. कुलाबा येथील कफ परेड भागातील मच्छिमार नगर झोपडपट्टीत राहणारा निलेश मोहिते सुंदर पेंटिंग करतो. आपल्या चित्रकलेमुळे त्याने रतन टाटांचं मन जिंकलं आहे. आता रतन टाटांमुळे त्या कलाकाराच्या करिअरची स्वप्नवत सुरुवातही झाली आहे. आता कुलाबा येथील ताजमहाल पॅलेस हॉटेलमध्ये निलेशने केलेली पेटिंग्स ठेवण्यात येणार आहे. २४ सप्टेंबर ते २ ऑक्टोबर या कालावधीत ताज पॅलेस हॉटेलने आपल्या ताज आर्ट गॅलरीमध्ये त्याच्या पेटिंग्स विनामूल्य प्रदर्शित करण्यासाठी परवानगी दिली आहे.

पहिलं चित्रकला प्रदर्शन

निलेश मोहिते आपलं पहिलं चित्रकला प्रदर्शन दिग्गज जहांगीर सबावाला, एम एफ हुसेन, व्ही. एस. गायतोंडे, राम कुमार आणि लक्ष्मण श्रेष्ठ यांच्यासह या ताज आर्ट गॅलरीमध्ये सामिल होत करत आहे. कफ परेड येथील उद्योगपतींच्या बंगल्याजवळील झोपडपट्टीत लहानाचा मोठा झाल्याचं निलेशने सांगितलं. मी कधीही आर्ट स्कूलमध्ये गेलो नसल्याचंही निलेश म्हणाला. मी माझ्या लहानशा घरात बसून अनेक स्केचेस काढले आहेत, असं निलेशने सांगितलं. रतन टाटा आदर्श

निलेशचं नववीपर्यंत शिक्षण झालं आहे. त्याला लहानपणापासून चित्रकलेची आवड होती, पण त्याने कधीही त्याचं शिक्षण घेतलं नाही. त्याच्या वडिलांचं लहानपणीच निधन झालं, तर आईने इतरांकडे धुणीभांडी करत आपल्या मुलांचं पालनपोषण केलं. आईला ही कामं करावी लागू नयेत यासाठी तो रात्रशाळेसह पार्ट टाइम नोकरीही करायचा आणि चित्रकलाही जोपासायचा. रतन टाटा माझे आदर्श आहेत. त्यांचं मी पोर्ट्रेट बनवलं आणि मला त्यांना ते द्यायचं होतं, असं तो म्हणाला. रतन टाटांच्या भेटीसाठी अनेक महिने वाट पाहिली

निलेशने काढलेलं रतन टाटांचं चित्र त्यांना भेट देण्यासाठी तो अनेक महिने त्यांची वाट पाहत होता. त्यानंतर टाटांना ओळखत असलेल्या एका व्यक्तीने निलेशला काही वर्षांपूर्वी त्यांच्याकडे नेले. त्यावेळी निलेशने त्यांना त्याने काढलेलं त्यांचं चित्र भेट म्हणून दिलं. त्यानंतर तो टाटांना अनेकदा भेटला. या भेटीतूनच रतन टाटांना निलेशची परिस्थिती समजली. निलेश त्याच्या आई, पत्नी आणि पाच वर्षांच्या मुलीसह ८ बाय ८ च्या खोलीत राहत असल्याचं टाटांना समजलं. रतन टाटांच्या वाढदिवशी गिफ्ट केलेलं खास पेटिंग

२८ डिसेंबर २०१८ मध्ये रतन टाटांच्या वाढदिवशी तो त्यांना भेटला आणि आणखी एक त्यांचं पेटिंग भेट म्हणून दिलं. या भेटीबाबत बोलताना निलेशने सांगतिलं, की त्यांनी मला दुसऱ्या दिवशी पुन्हा यायला सांगितलं, मी तिथे गेला पण त्यांना भेटता आलं नाही. त्यानंतर पुन्हा काही दिवसांनी त्यांना भेटलो. त्यावेळी ते मला टेबलावर एक चेकबुक घेऊन बसलेले दिसले. त्यावेळी रतन टाटांनी निलेशला तुला काही पैसे द्यायचे असल्याचं सांगितलं. टाटांनी निलेशला सांगितलं, की त्याला घर घेण्यासाठी पैसे द्यायचे आहेत, जेणेकरुन तो आरामात राहू शकेल आणि कामही करू शकेल. रतन टाटांचे हे शब्द ऐकून मी रडायला लागलो. मी त्यांच्या पाया पडलो आणि त्यांना सर मला पैशांची गरज नाही, मला कामाची गरज आहे, असं या भेटीबाबत बोलताना निलेशने सांगितलं. निलेशची ही मागणी रतन टाटांनी मान्य केली. त्यानंतर दोन महिन्यांनी त्यांनी त्याला पेटिंग्सच्या प्रदर्शनासाठी तयारी करण्याचंही सांगितलं. आता २४ सप्टेंबरपासून ते २ ऑक्टोबरपर्यंत निलेशची चित्र ताज पॅलेस हॉटेलमध्ये प्रदर्शनासाठी असून स्वत: रतन टाटांनी निलेशच्या पहिल्या प्रदर्शनाचं उद्घाटनही केलं.
